    English/Spanish post Yesterday, we visited Sarah Y English/Spanish post Yesterday, we visited Sarah Yoder's Waterford 4th grade classroom. The class was working on math, and we found GHS Education Apprentice Adolfo Lopez Ordonez working with a small group of students. He helped the students work through math problems and encouraged them when they began to understand things better and figure things out. The class was working on multiplication with larger numbers, and they were using a (new to us) method of breaking down the problem to make it easier to find the answer. Ms. Yoder explained the process and checked in with students to make sure they understood how to do the work. Toward the end of the lesson, one of the students said, "Can we do this for recess?" Another student added, "This was the best math class ever!" We love it when students ask for more time to do math, not because they don't understand it, but because they enjoy it!     English/Spanish post High Ability Screening - Grad English/Spanish post High Ability Screening - Grades K, 2nd & 5th Starting Monday, November 4th, High Ability Identification Screenings in grades kindergarten, 2nd and 5th will begin. According to the state mandate, all students in those grades will receive the opportunity to take the Identification screener. If you do not want your child to take the high ability identification screener, please reach out to your school counselor to opt-out; otherwise, your child will be given the assessment screener as mandated.     Each year, GCS holds informational Title I Parent Each year, GCS holds informational Title I Parent Meetings. Topics covered in the meetings include Information on Title I, Parent rights, Parent and family engagement, Student achievement, and Title I funds. This year, GCS will hold meetings on the following dates: Monday, November 11: 10:00 a.m. at Chamberlain Elementary and 1:30 p.m. at Model Elementary Tuesday, November 12: 10:00 a.m. at Parkside Elementary and 3:30 p.m. at Prairie View Elementary Wednesday, November 13: 4:00 p.m. at Goshen High School Thursday, November 14: 10:00 a.m. at Goshen Junior High School and 1:30 p.m. at Goshen Intermediate School Friday, November 15: 10:00 a.m. at West Goshen Elementary and 1:30 p.m. at Waterford Elementary *Parents are welcome to attend any meeting regardless of where their student is enrolled.     The women in Human Resources (Casey Cartwright, As The women in Human Resources (Casey Cartwright, Ashley Francis, and Kristi Miller) were feeling festive, so they dressed up for Halloween. They were actually dressed like many of the teachers and staff at Waterford as well! Waterford chose to dress "like the 50s" because it is the 50th day of school. Happy Halloween and Happy 50th day of school!

    Krista Troyer was hired as Model's principal becau Krista Troyer was hired as Model's principal because of her leadership skills and experience. She was already a part of the leadership team and was dedicated to analyzing student data, planning according to student needs, and creating a student-centered learning environment, focused on increasing student achievement. Mrs. Troyer is bilingual and confident enough to step in and help students and families in Spanish when needed. She is dedicated to the Model teachers and staff and goes out of her way to build relationships, support staff, celebrate successes, and create a fun school culture. Together, the Model staff provides students with a vibrant learning environment where laughter and cheerfulness are encouraged! When several students were asked what they liked about Mrs. Troyer they said, "She's nice, she is kind, she is beautiful, and she is the Queen of Model!" A teacher added, "I like everything about Krista, she is a great leader. She is someone you want to work for and you want to do your best to help the students and school be successful."

    English/Spanish post The marching band gave a comm English/Spanish post The marching band gave a community performance on Monday evening. Tom Cox welcomed everyone and thanked GCS & GHS administrators and band parents for their ongoing support of the band. Then GHS principal Cathy DeMeyer, along with Spanish interpretation from a band member, also thanked parents and the students for their hard work and dedication. The marching band qualified for ISSMA state competition at Lucas Oil Stadium on Nov. 9. They are a Class A band, which puts them in competition with the largest schools in Indiana. And while those schools may have more money and resources than GHS, according to Ms. DeMeyer, “We have heart and grit.” Yes, we do, GHS! And you qualified along with the best. GCS is so proud of you. Having seen parts of their 2024 show “The Red Umbrella” throughout the fall, they still brought a spontaneous "Wow" out of me at one part of the show. GREAT JOB, everyone! La banda de música ofreció una actuación comunitaria el lunes por la noche.
