New GCS Virtual Academy
The Goshen Community Schools (GCS) administrative team is pleased to announce a unique educational
opportunity: The Chandler Virtual Academy. Located at the district’s Chandler Innovation Academy, this
virtual venture, opening for enrollment after Labor Day, will offer a personalized learning experience. It is
designed to be supportive and flexible, catering to each student’s individual needs and circumstances.
The Chandler Virtual Academy, designed to accommodate approximately forty students in grades 5-12, is an
ideal educational model for students and families whose lifestyles may not align with a traditional school
schedule. This could include families serving in an educational capacity overseas, military families, families
with professional opportunities in music or sports, or jobs with non-traditional schedules, homeschool students
in need of higher-level class support, students on medical leave, students in need of credit recovery, or
students seeking an accelerated path to a high school diploma.
Virtual Students: GCS is committed to providing virtual students with the necessary support and resources
for their academic success. Students will have specific times for one-on-one academic support while working
through a high-quality curriculum. They will also receive individualized guidance from a teacher, principal, and
counselor, with live support available from 8:30-11:30 a.m. or 12:00-3:30 p.m. each day that Goshen Schools
are in session. By participating in GCS virtual classes, students gain access to all of the district’s resources,
facilities, and support services, enhancing their overall educational experience and providing a well-rounded
learning environment.
Hybrid Students: For those who prefer a mix of virtual and in-person learning, the hybrid option is ideal.
Students can choose to participate in 1-2 courses virtually and the rest in-person at Goshen or their home
school district. This flexibility allows students to enjoy the full range of GCS offerings, including band, choir,
theater, orchestra, and world languages. Virtual students opting for the hybrid model can also engage in
athletics if they are taking at least two in-school courses and completing virtual work. This integration fosters
a sense of community and allows students to pursue their interests beyond the classroom.
Homeschool Students: If your student is currently homeschooled or engaged in virtual learning elsewhere,
GCS encourages you to consider the Chandler Virtual Academy as a beneficial option. Returning to our
community can provide valuable support and more extracurricular and academic opportunities for your
student. It can also foster a sense of connection and belonging. All Virtual Academy graduates will earn a
Goshen High School diploma (General, Core 40, or Academic Honors diploma), which can significantly benefit
their future academic and career prospects.
If you are interested in learning more about how GCS can support your student’s educational needs and
integrate them into the community, do not hesitate to reach out to the district for more information. If there are
other ways that GCS could support local students that have not yet been addressed, please feel free to reach
out to the school district with ideas and suggestions by emailing contact@goshenschools.org.
