Community Programs

Our Water Aerobics programs offer something for everyone and are suitable for all fitness levels. Each class incorporates stretching, core training, flexibility, and balance exercises. The natural resistance of water provides an efficient, full-body workout that’s gentle on the joints—no sweat required! Classes are held in various water depths to add variety and accommodate all comfort levels, including those who prefer not to swim.
Our experienced instructors bring more than 25 years of expertise and are certified through the internationally recognized Aquatic Exercise Association. They are also trained in Water Zumba, adding a fun and energetic twist to your aquatic fitness routine.
Class Schedule:

Traditional Water Aerobics: Tuesdays & Thursdays, 6–7 AM

Water Zumba: Mondays & Wednesdays, 7–8 PM

EZ Aqua: Monday & Wednesday 10-11 AM

Punch Pass: $50 for 10 classes (mix and match Water Aerobics and Water Zumba)

Punch cards are valid for one calendar year from the date of purchase and may be used by families. Each family member requires one punch per visit. Cards are kept on file in the pool office for your convenience.

Pool Information
-
Aquatic Center Policy:
- No one is allowed in the water unless an approved lifeguard is on duty.
- Bathers must shower before entering pool
- Lap swim and open swim hours are for lap swimming or water exercise only, outside lessons or coaching are prohibited.
- Bather’s must have an appropriate swimming suit
- Street clothes may not be worn
- Undergarments may not be worn
- No gum, food, or glass containers are allowed in the pool area.
- Do not play on the lane lines
- No children 14 or under without an adult present
- Children under 54” need an adult in the water with them, within arm’s reach at all times.
- Spitting or spouting water, blowing nose, urinating, or defecating in the pool is prohibited.
- Disposable water-specific diapers must be worn by anyone who is not toilet-trained.
- Floatation devices filled with air are prohibited.
- All other floatation devices must be Coast Guard approved
- No animals, pets, bicycles, wheelies, skateboards, or scooters allowed in the pool area or locker rooms. (Service animals are allowed)
- No prolonged breath-holding or rapid breathing prior to underwater swimming as it may cause hyperventilation and/or dangerous shallow or deep water blackouts
- In the case of an emergency, all patrons must follow the direction of the pool staff and supervisors.
ILLNESS:
- Any person who has a contagious or communicable disease such as the flu is prohibited from using the pool
- Any person who is experiencing diarrhea is prohibited from using the pool
- In the case of vomit or fecal matter found in the pool, everyone in that pool must exit the pool promptly.
- They are required to shower with soap
- The pool will open after the state regulated time period
DIVING BOARD RULES:
- Only one person on the diving board at a time
- Dive or jump straight out from the board
- After dive, swim clear of the diving area
- Only one bounce on the diving board
- No hanging from the board
LAP SWIM:
- Lifeguards have the right to move swimmers into a different lane if they deem it necessary.
- No swimmer may deny another swimmer access to a lane
- If there are two swimmers in a lane, they may split the lane or circle swim. If there are three or more swimmers in a lane they will circle swim.
- Swimmers must exit the pool promptly when the lifeguard notifies them that lap swim is over
EQUIPMENT/TOYS:
- Air floatation devices are not allowed in the pool
- Noodles and toys that sink are permitted as long as children are using them properly and safely. (i.e. not throwing them at people, slapping the water, or blowing water through them)
- Squirt guns, or other aquatic toys other than the ones listed above are not permitted during public swim times
- Kickboards, when available, are not toys for standing, kneeling, or sitting.
- Lap swimmers are permitted to use kickboards, flippers, and pull buoys (Some kickboards and pull buoys are available for use at the pool, fins are not available).
POOL RULES:
- No standing, climbing, hanging, crawling, or sitting on ramp, railings, or ladders
- Diving blocks are off limits
- No diving except in the section over 10 feet and/or when diving boards are open.
- No running, spinning or flipping jumps anywhere in the pool.
- No going over the railings on the ramp
- Always stand up and walk on the ramp or stairs to enter and exit (no swimming on the ramp)
- No diving in the shallow pool or shallow end of the competition pool
- No running, eating or drinking on deck. (plastic water bottles are allowed)
- No horseplay, dunking, or pushing
- Jumping:
- Children may jump from the side gutter
- No running, spinning, or flipping jumps
- No diving anywhere in the pool.
- Lifeguards have the right to prohibit jumping or restrict jumping to a certain area, specifically when the pool is crowded.
- Children (ages 14 and under) must pass the deep water test to swim in the competition pool regardless of whether their parent will be swimming with them.
- The test may be taken only once per day
- The swim test consists of
- Jumping feet first into the deep end and surfacing
- Treading water for 20 seconds
- Swimming one complete length of the pool without touching the sides or bottom of the pool.
- Exiting the pool under their own power
Lifeguards reserve the right to pass or fail based on successful completion of each test section and stroke

The safety of our participants and staff is our top priority during inclement weather or any conditions that may pose a risk.
Please use caution when traveling during poor weather, as roads and sidewalks may be wet or slippery. If weather conditions are uncertain, we encourage you to call the Aquatic Center at 574-538-3201 before traveling to confirm that staff are on site and programs are running.
In accordance with Goshen Community Schools policy, all Aquatic Center programs and activities are canceled when schools are closed due to inclement weather.

If GCS announces a delay the evening before, the Aquatic Center will open at 7:00 AM, weather permitting.

Activities scheduled before 7:00 AM will be canceled.

For after-school or weekend weather events, the facility supervisor on duty will determine if the Aquatic Center will remain open or close early.
