Prairie View Elementary Named Indiana Family Friendly School

Goshen Community Schools is proud to announce that Prairie View Elementary has been
recognized by the Indiana Department of Education (IDOE) as a 2025 Family Friendly School. Prairie
View is one of only 45 schools statewide to earn this designation, which honors schools for their
excellence in building strong family-school partnerships and fostering welcoming, inclusive learning
environments.
The Family Friendly Schools program, launched by the IDOE in 2015, highlights schools that actively
involve families in the educational process and create a culture of collaboration to support student
success. Schools are evaluated on their ability to welcome families, communicate effectively, and
work closely with community partners to help students thrive.
“This recognition reflects the incredible work our Prairie View staff does daily to build strong
relationships with families and create a school culture where everyone feels valued and connected,”
said GCS Superintendent, Mr. Jim DuBois. Prairie View Elementary Principal, Sonya Imus, also
commented, saying: “We believe that student success starts with strong partnerships between
school and home, and we’re honored that Prairie View is being recognized for that commitment.”
Prairie View joins a distinguished group of schools across Indiana that have demonstrated a strong
commitment to family engagement, student achievement, and inclusive practices. This recognition
reinforces Goshen Community Schools' continued focus on equity, collaboration, and the belief that
every student can succeed.
