GCS Hires New Executive Director

At the April 22nd school board meeting, Mr. Javier Jimenez was hired as a new Executive Director for Goshen
Community Schools. Mr. Jimenez is a native of Caracas, Venezuela. He will bring a wealth of educational and
leadership experience to his new GCS role. Mr. Jimenez attended Bethel University where he graduated with a
Bachelor of Arts in 2005, a master’s in ministries in 2007, a Transition to Teaching License in 2012, and an
Administrator’s License in 2015. He is currently a student at the American College of Education, earning an
ED.S. in Instructional Leadership, Educational Leadership, and Administration, and is expected to complete the
degree in December 2024.
Mr. Jimenez began his educational career in 2012 as a 4th-grade teacher at Baugo Community Schools. In
2015, he was hired by Elkhart Community Schools as an Academic Dean. In 2016, he moved to Concord
Schools where he was an assistant principal at Concord High School for one year, and then from 2017 to 2021,
he was the principal at Concord Ox Bow Elementary School. In 2021, he was hired by South Bend Community
Schools as a Principal Supervisor and Director of School Learning. He was most recently working as the Interim
Director of Curriculum and Instruction for South Bend Schools.
Mr. Jimenez’s professional accomplishments and associations include the AASA National Principal Supervisor
Academy – 2022; Indiana Association of School Principals Indiana Principal Leadership Institute – 2022; and
Indiana New Principal Leadership Institute – 2020.
Hiring Mr. Jimenez will provide GCS with a strong leader who has a range of perspectives and experiences that
will benefit the district and set a positive example for students and staff alike. Having a leader who understands
the school community can also contribute to better communication, engagement, and ultimately, improved
outcomes for everyone involved.
GCS Superintendent Mr. Jim DuBois said of Mr. Jimenez, “I feel blessed to be able to work with Javier after
observing the work he has done in other school districts. I was particularly impressed with the strategies he
used working with principals to turn around seven struggling schools in the South Bend school district. His
targeted use of school and student data within their professional learning communities yielded very good
results.”
Mr. Jimenez’s educational background, including his current work toward an ED.S., showcases his dedication to
ongoing professional development and his readiness for the challenges of his new role. With a solid foundation
in teaching and a focus on instructional leadership through Professional Learning and Data Teams, Mr. Jimenez
is well-prepared to support our principals and teaching teams for the academic growth and success of students
in Goshen.
