Goshen High School Unveils RedHawk Leadership Academy
Goshen High School (GHS) is pleased to announce a ribbon-cutting ceremony for our
new RedHawk Leadership Academy at the Goshen Chamber of Commerce on
Wednesday, October 9th, at 8:30 a.m.
The RedHawk Leadership Academy has been designed to empower students, build their
confidence, and give them the space to acquire skills essential for their future. The academy, led
by GHS Vocational Education Coordinator Jonathon (JJ) DuBois, offers high school students an
exceptional opportunity to learn about community engagement and gain experience in both
management and financial leadership. By offering dual credit and focusing on areas such as
communication, teamwork, and problem-solving, the academy students will be well-prepared for
the challenges of both college and careers.
Through a partnership with the Goshen Chamber of Commerce, students network with local
businesses and get real-world examples of their classroom lessons. Students also partner with
local organizations to lead through service learning, like the volunteer work the students have
already done at the Goshen Soccer Academy and The Window.
Preparing the next generation of leaders is vital for the growth and sustainability of any
community. By equipping our students with leadership skills, we are helping them become
proactive, responsible citizens who can inspire others and drive positive change. Workshops on
public speaking, conflict resolution, and project management, along with opportunities for
firsthand experience, can make a dramatic difference. Encouraging our students to engage with
local issues and participate in community service will also instill a sense of responsibility and
connection to their greater Goshen community.
At next Wednesday’s ribbon-cutting, several students will speak about the leadership academy’s
purpose and goals, what the class has done thus far, ways the academy will impact their future,
the partnership between GHS and the Chamber of Commerce, and the ways the students may
impact the community. Possible student speakers include Jordy Miller, Bentley Medina, Isaac
Moore, Aaron Mounsithiraj, and Levi Sawatsky.
Please join Goshen Schools in celebrating the launch of this exciting leadership academy as our
students use the opportunity to jumpstart their futures while still in high school!
