GCS NEW SCHOOL BOARD MEMBER
At the GCS school board meeting on Monday, March 25, 2024, Keith Goodman was voted
in as the newest school board member, filling the District 4 vacant seat on the board. Mr.
Goodman has strong connections to the Goshen community and Goshen Community
Schools, and a deep involvement in various community organizations.
Mr. Goodman is a Goshen High School graduate, and he attended Goshen College where
he received a B.A. in Business Administration. As a commercial banker and a former
member of the GCS school board (from 2016-2020), Goodman brings both background
knowledge of the school district and financial expertise to the school board. His previous
success as a secretary and vice president on the GCS school board demonstrate that he
has the organizational and leadership skills necessary for the board.
During Mr. Goodman’s previous term on the school board, the board navigated significant
tasks such as hiring a new superintendent, overseeing the planning and construction of a
new school, managing a school referendum, and working with administrators to reopen the
school district during the COVID-19 pandemic.
His involvement in other community organizations, such as the Goshen High School
building trades program, LaCasa finance committee, 4-H Fair board finance committee,
Goshen Noon Kiwanis, Junior Achievement of Elkhart County, and Rotary International,
demonstrates his commitment to the overall well-being and development of the Goshen
community even beyond education.
Mr. Goodman and his wife, Regina, graduated from Goshen High School in 1982. They
put their own children, Brock and Elise, through Goshen Schools, and their oldest
grandchild will start kindergarten in the Goshen school district next fall.
Goshen Community Schools appreciates Mr. Goodman’s willingness to return to the Board
of School Trustees and looks forward to the positive contributions he will make on behalf
of Goshen students and staff.
