Goshen High School Art Teacher Publishes First Book Showcasing Years of Creative Work

Goshen, IN – Goshen High School art teacher Jason Keiser has added a new accomplishment to his creative journey with the publication of his first book, The Twisted Shapes of Time.
Keiser has been teaching at GHS since the fall of 2020, offering a wide range of visual arts courses including Drawing 1 & 2, Watercolors, Acrylics, 2D Art, and AP Studio Art. His connection to Goshen High School began even earlier, when he spent a semester student teaching at GHS in 2017. That experience helped shape his approach as an educator and deepened his appreciation for the school’s strong visual arts program.
“One of the things I love about teaching at GHS is how intentional the course offerings are,” Keiser shared. “The structure allows students to go deeper, similar to what they might experience in a college-level art program.”
The Twisted Shapes of Time is Keiser’s first solo publication and features a cohesive collection of tree drawings inspired by landscapes from Colorado’s Rocky Mountains, Northern Michigan, and the Midwest. One of the drawings in the book is even based on a tree located in front of Goshen High School. The book’s title reflects Keiser’s fascination with how trees visually capture the effects of time, weather, and growth.
“Looking at the branches felt like looking back through time,” he explained. “You can see years of change shaped into the form of the tree.”
In addition to the drawings, Keiser included written reflections throughout the book—short pieces inspired by the environments where the artwork was created or the thoughts that surfaced during the drawing process. Together, the visuals and writing offer readers a deeper look into his creative perspective.
While this is his first book-length publication, Keiser has previously had shorter writings published during his college years and even explored screenwriting early on. Looking ahead, he sees the possibility of future books, including a second volume of drawings or a compilation of his oil paintings.
Beyond his own work, Keiser remains passionate about helping students find their creative voice. His advice to students is rooted in openness and curiosity.
“It’s good to plan for your future, but also stay open to where your path might lead,” he said. “Find what you’re passionate about and invest your time and energy into it. Become creators, not just consumers.”
The Twisted Shapes of Time is available for purchase on Amazon. Those interested in Keiser’s ongoing work can also follow him on Instagram (@JasonKeiserArt) or explore his portfolio and original artwork through his website (jasonkeiser.com).
