Dr. Karen Blaha Approved as Principal of Goshen Intermediate School
Goshen, IN – Goshen Community Schools (GCS) is pleased to announce that the GCS Board of School Trustees has approved Dr. Karen Blaha as principal of Goshen Intermediate School (GIS).
Dr. Blaha has been serving as interim principal of Goshen Intermediate School during the 2025–26 school year, providing steady leadership and continuity for students, staff, and families. Her appointment as principal reflects the district’s confidence in her leadership and her deep connection to the Goshen community.
Dr. Blaha brings more than three decades of experience in education, leadership, and instructional coaching. She previously served Goshen Community Schools as principal of Chamberlain Elementary School and in district leadership roles as Director of Curriculum and Director of English Learners. Her return to the district has been marked by a strong focus on collaboration, student-centered decision-making, and support for staff.
Prior to returning to GCS, Dr. Blaha served as Program Coordinator and Associate Professor of Education at the University of St. Francis in Joliet, Illinois. In that role, she led the Educational Leadership Master’s Program and advised doctoral candidates in educational leadership. She is a published author and nationally recognized presenter on topics including instructional equity, culturally responsive teaching, and support for
diverse learners.
Dr. Blaha holds a Doctorate in Educational Leadership and multiple K–12 leadership and teaching certifications. Her career spans roles as a principal, district director, instructional coach, and reading specialist, with a longstanding passion for mentoring educators and fostering inclusive learning environments.
