Notice of Public Meeting on Superintendent’s Contract
The Board of School Trustees of the Goshen Community Schools (“Board”) will hold a public meeting on Thursday, April 2, 2026, at 8:30 a.m. at the Administrative Building located at 613 E Purl St, Goshen, Indiana, to discuss and hear public comments including objections to and support for the proposed terms of the employment contract between the Board and the Superintendent of Schools, as required by the terms of I. C. 20-26-5-4.3. The Board will take a final vote on the proposed contract at the Regular School Board meeting on Monday, April 13, 2026.
Summary of Proposed Superintendent’s Contract
1. Term: A three (3) year term beginning July 1, 2026, and concluding on June 30, 2029, with a one (1) year extension unless notice is given on or before May 1, 2029.
2. Duties: Defined to include normal responsibilities of a superintendent, as detailed by policy and state law.
3. Annual Base Salary: $185,000.00. Beginning on July 1, 2027, and for each employment year thereafter, if the Superintendent receives a rating of “Effective” or “Highly Effective”, the annual raise of shall be a flat dollar amount equal in terms of percentage to the average percentage raise of administrators who receive raises for that year. The average shall be determined by comparing the total amount to be added to the base salaries paid to all eligible administrators for that year divided by the total base salaries for all of those administrators.
4. A work year of 260 days with annual entitlement to 30 vacation days, 5 personal days, 5 professional leave days, and annual holidays provided to fifty-two (52) week employees.
5. Deferred Annuity: The Board shall pay an amount equal to 14% of the Superintendent’s base salary per contract year into a 403(b) account in accordance with applicable laws, rules, etc.
6. Vehicle Allowance: A monthly vehicle allowance of $1,200.00 per month.
7. Technology Allowance: A monthly cell phone reimbursement stipend of $100.00 per month.
8. Health/Dental Insurance: equivalent to those provided to other full-time administrator employees.
9. Business and Professional Expenses: Reimbursement for ordinary expenses incurred in service of GCS, cost of attendance at pre-approved professional conferences, and cost of membership in recognized professional organizations.
10. Professional Liability: GCS to indemnify and hold harmless the Superintendent from liability related to the scope of employment.
11. Miscellaneous: provisions regarding annual performance evaluation, contract termination, and other non-monetary terms consistent with Indiana law.
